Dear all
You will no doubt be aware of Bristol Airport's consultation on relocating its landing lights onto Felton Common. This proposal has caused significant anger, anxiety, and distress among residents in Felton and Winford in particular - though I suspect these concerns are shared far more widely.
The consultation is now open, and I would be very grateful if you could respond and help share the consultation details more widely within the community. It is essential that as many people as possible take part and have their voices heard.
The consultation can be found here:

Dear all
Felton Common
Several residents have written to me about Bristol Airport's consultation on placing landing lights on Felton Common.
First of all, I want to make it absolutely clear that I share your concerns. This is a deeply troubling proposal from Bristol Airport given the potential effects on nearby communities and the surrounding environment.
Felton Common is not only an important green space but also a much-loved part of village life and local heritage. Any attempt by the airport to acquire or alter this land would be deeply concerning to many residents, and I fully understand the strength of feeling this has generated. I am also acutely aware of the environmental and visual impact that such a proposal would have on the area.
Many residents have expressed serious concerns about how this proposal would further affect a community already experiencing significant noise, traffic, and disturbance from airport operations. As your ward councillor, I understand the impact this has on residents' lives, and I will continue to represent your views and ensure your voices are heard clearly and constructively through the appropriate channels.
I am told that the airport will shortly be writing to all residents in the wider area to outline its plans. That letter will include details of the proposals, the consultation start and closing dates, the date of an open consultation event, and how you can respond.
This is a consultation run and managed entirely by Bristol Airport - not by North Somerset Council. The airport will use your feedback to refine their plans and their overall Master Plan for expansion, which they intend to submit for consideration by the council as planning authority in the Spring of 2026. I would strongly encourage you, therefore, to take part in the consultation and make your views known directly to the airport. Your response is really important. Please feel free to copy me into your correspondence so that I can monitor the level of concern and ensure these views are fully represented.
Kind regards
Annemieke
